How to help Venezuelans
#1
This post is NOT a discussion about the lessons of communism, it's failings, and it's innate corruption.  Nor is it meant to trumpet capitalism's fantastic transformative abilities.

This post hopes to keep the Venezuelan people at the forefront of any decisions this country makes in regards to providing assistance.
  • Deploy the USS Comfort Naval Hospital.  (Check!)
  • Provide Humanitarian Aid to surrounding countries to help defray cost of supporting refugees. (Check!)
  • Reassure regional allies that any solution requiring force will be led by multinational forces from the region, supported by US assets. (Check!)
  • Demand support for opposition leader Guaido at the United Nations (Check!)
  • Freeze the assets of Maduro's Government and supporters. (Check!)
  • Preposition emergency aid as if a natural disaster is about to occur.
  • Suggest the Venezuelan military cut ties with Russia.
  • Cancel Russian oil contracts.
  • Cancel Chinese infrastructure payments.
  • Advise the Chinese and Russians that they need to speak to Maduro to get their money.
  • Repatriate the frozen assets to the Venezuelan treasury.
  • Repatriate the refugees.
  • Support all efforts by the Venezuelans to return to their constitutional democracy.
  • Assist Venezuelans in their pursuit of justice vis-à-vis the Maduro and/or Chavez regimes.
